Business Leader Media is seeking a career-oriented person to become managing editor of its local business publications in the Triangle, Triad and Charlotte.

Our local business publications focus on covering the businesses, leaders and stories that make a difference in the local business community. We publish Business Leader magazine in each market and supplement with quarterly/annual magazines focusing on women in business, corporate relocation, technology and real estate.

The right person for this job will be able to work with the CEO to develop an editorial strategy focusing on reaching the executives and entrepreneurs of each market. They will be able to build and manage an editorial team that can meet monthly deadlines while producing a high-quality product. They will work with the community to get the right business content into our magazines. From time to time, they will represent Business Leader at networking events.

Challenge:
You must understand the business of crafting relevant editorial content for the local business community and be able to manage a team of 5+ assistant editors and staff writers (some located in other markets) to put out a number of high quality monthly business publications. You must match the editorial content to the demands of advertisers and readers. You will accomplish this by having your pulse on the business environment in your region.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime career opportunity. Business Leader Media has grown from 6 to 40 employees in one year and needs the right person to take its local business magazine division to the next level. This position is part of our management team and will report directly to the CEO.

Note:
We will consider only candidates who have managed an editorial team working on monthly deadlines. Ability to understand a business audience is a major plus.
