Business Leader Acquires Telegenics Media; Names Robert Friedman as NC Publisher
Acquisition allows Business Leader to add Video to its Magazine, Web, and Event
Business Leader Media has acquired the assets of Raleigh-based Telegenics Media Productions and named Telegenics CEO Robert Friedman as publisher of its magazines in the Triangle, Charlotte and the Triad. Telegenics Media Productions provides video production services for Triangle businesses, specializing in producing web videos and DVDs that help businesses tell their story to prospective clients and partners.
Friedman, a life-long business owner, co-founded the Red Hot & Blue restaurant chain in 1988 and served as its CEO until the company was sold in 2006. At the time of the sale, there were 35 locations in 10 states, system-wide revenues of $55 million and Consumer Reports magazine named Red Hot & Blue the best barbeque restaurant chain in America. Friedman acquired Telegenics in 2007.

Prior to Red Hot & Blue, Friedman was the Washington correspondent for PBS’s ‘The Nightly Business Report’ covering the White House and Congress. He has done personal finance reporting for ABC News and was a freelance business reporter for CBS and CNN.
Friedman has an MBA from the University of Mississippi and a BA in Mass Media/Management from Marietta College.
